Source Weekender – Preview

To say we’re excited about the Source Weekender at The Woodend Barn would be an understatement. The event is a globally inspired festival of music and food. Sounds great to us!
The event promises to immerse audiences in music influenced by world beats as MOBO Award winners and Mercury Prize artists take to the stage.
With a fantastic line up and additional workshops taking place, we don’t doubt that it is going to be a great hit!
So what’s in store for the Source Weekender?
Friday 26th August
MOBO award-winners Sons of Kemet - kinetic, earth-shaking and with an electrifying live performance, the band features four of the UK jazz scene’s brightest stars, culminating in a revolutionary mix of music that spans jazz, rock, dub and Caribbean folk.
The band has since been nominated for a UMA Award and also a Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards.

Saturday 27th August
DJ with KidProquo 12.30pm – 2pm
Join Dj KidProquo for this masterclass in DJ-ING. Learn the basics of scratching and mixing and have a go on the turntables to create your own set inspired by music of all different genres and styles.
Ages 12 - 18
Beatboxing with Bigg Taj 2.30pm – 4pm
Join champion Beatboxer Bigg Taj for this masterclass in creating beats and sounds using only your voice. Learn the basic techniques and tricks of beatboxing and how to turn your voice into a drum machine and impress all your friends.

ESKA, one of music's best kept secrets, has arisen and taken flight with her own and unique sound.

Her unique voice marries Western folk music to Eastern European ideas, with a dash of jazz and a tremendous sense of fun.
