New Year's Eve in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
23 December 2022
Bring in the New Year with a bang by enjoying a spectacular Hogmanay (the Scottish name for new year celebrations) in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. From street parties, to pantomimes, as well as live music, there's no shortage of ways to kick off 2023 in North-east Scotland.
The Ultimate Street Party
Bring in the New Year under the stars, at the ultimate Aberdeen street party taking place on Schoolhill from 8.30pm. Live musicians will take to the stage to entertain you before an on-stage fireworks display to bring in the bells.
Traditional Hogmanay Ceilidh
Dance the night away at a traditional Scottish ceilidh. Head to the iconic Aberdeen Beach Ballroom and enjoy live entertainment from the Hipflask Ceilidh Band, stovies and fizz!
Family Pantomime
There’s still time to continue the festive celebrations by laughing the afternoon or evening away with the family at a pantomime. If you're in the city, then you can enjoy a viewing of Cinderella or Peter Pan!
- Cinderella at The Tivoli Theatre has three showings on New Year's Eve running throughout the day.
- Peter Pan at His Majesty’s Theatre has both an afternoon and evening showing for you to choose from.
A Live Gig
Party the night away with live entertainment from the popular 80’s band Bad Manners at the OGV Taproom. Your ticket grants you both a welcome drink and one when the clocks chimes at midnight, stovies, entry to the Bad Manners gig, and more!
Stonehaven Fireballs
The beloved Stonehaven Fireballs are back, and crowds gather from afar to watch the spectacle of swinging balls of fire as they light up the dark sky and create patterns in the air before the fireballs are finally looped into Stonehaven Harbour in this famous ceremony!
Happy New Year!
Whatever your plans to celebrate 2023, we hope you all have a wonderful night and wish you the very best for the New Year.
