My Top 5 Places for a Fast Food Lunch
14 July 2016
When you’re visiting a new place time can be precious and there’s so much to do and see in Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire, so here are my top suggestions for a city centre delicious fast food lunch:
Authentic Mexican street food right in the heart of Aberdeen. Everything they prepare is set to excite the senses and capture the true authentic flavours of Mexico! Sit in or take away and enjoy your meal in the nearby Bon Accord Terrace Gardens.
The mantra is simple, share; simple; good; food. Foodstory is well known for its clean, fresh, healthy and tasty food. Great for a quick coffee and cake, or a swift lunch, it’s always the top of my list! The tranquil settings also make for a well-deserved stop on a busy day.
It was named one of Britain’s best grilled cheese shops and it isn’t hard to see why! Serving the favourite classics along with toasties with a twist, such as ‘Mac da Pig’ and ‘Hag and Melt’, MELT is a great spot for a hassle-free take away lunch. If you can hold out from eating it straight away, take the 20 minute walk to Duthie Park, for lunch with a view.
It’s at the top end of the city’s main shopping street, Union Street, so makes a perfect stop off point. Enjoy locally-sourced fillings on freshly baked bread or one of the café’s many appealing hot meals. After your lunch, head to the West End for a browse round our boutique stores – and don’t miss the macaroons at Almondine!
If you fancy great pub grub and a lively atmosphere within a traditional pub setting, look no further than Triple Kirks (did I mention that it used to be a church?). Situated at the end of Belmont Street, it serves amazing views of His Majesty’s Theatre and Aberdeen Art Gallery, and you can even dine alfresco on sunny days.
These are, of course, just a small selection of the eating and dining venues Aberdeen has on offer. For a full list visit www.visitabdn.com/food-and-drink.
