It's somehow May already, the year seems to be flying by. They do say "time flies when you're having fun" and look at what we've got to look forward to this month... it looks like this month is going to fly past too with all these fun events.

Legally Blonde [1 – 5 May 2018]
Start practising your ‘Bend and Snap’ as Legally Blonde struts onto the stage at His Majesty’s Theatre this week. Join Elle Woods as she enrols at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. This Olivier Award winning musical is non-stop fun from start to finish and will leave you wanting to see it all over again.
- Jay Rayner: The Ten (Food) Commandments [8 May 2018]
Masterchef judge and award-winning restaurant critic, Jay Rayner comes to the Tivoli Theatre to enlighten us about his ten commandments of cooking in this hilarious evening. This evening also includes a Q&A session and book signing.
- Minival 10. The Castle Party 2018 [12 May 2018]
Minival festival returns to Kincardine Castle with the best electronic and world music. There will also be a dedicated bus service to take you to and from Aberdeen city centre to the magical woodland festival – couldn’t be easier!
- The North of Scotland Pipe Band Championship [13 May 2018]
If you want to hear the true sound of Scotland, head along to the North of Scotland Pipe Band Championships in Banchory. This annual event brings together the best pipe bands from across the country for a celebration of our iconic musical instrument!
- The Tour Cycling Series [17 May 2018]
Feel the electric atmosphere as you cheer on the elite rides taking on our city centre tour challenge! Make sure you make time to check out the Cycling Activity Village at Union Terrace Gardens for all things cycling.
- Aberdeen Inspired Nights [18 – 27 May 2018]

- BHGE 10k Running Festival [20 May 2018]
Take part in Aberdeen’s longest running not-for-profit road race and see a different side to Aberdeen's beachfront. This event will host a 10k, 2k and 10k wheelchair race, active schools 2k and a family fun run. Whether you are taking part or supporting make sure to check out the family-friendly entertainment in the race village.

The latest festival in the Aberdeen Festivals programme! Head along to the University of Aberdeen's historic campus in Old Aberdeen for three days of concerts, tours, talks and workshops – you might even see some famous faces!
- Grampian Pride [26 May 2018]
Sending a warm welcome to all LGBT+ individuals and their straight allies, Grampian Pride will bring the local and wider community together and encourage everyone to ‘just be yourself’. The event will have its own march as well as entertainment from Aberdeenshire’s very own, Sandi Thom.
- Full Metal Haggis [26-27 May 2018]
Introducing Full Metal Haggis, North-east Scotland’s first outdoor rock and metal music festival. Taking place in majestic Royal Deeside, this weekend festival will feature performances by Zombie Militia, Hellriper and Risen Prophecy!
- Granite City Comic Con [26-27 May 2018]
Graduating to a bigger location, this year’s Granite City Comic-Con will boast three floors of attractions, guests, cosplay and much more. Don your costume and meet the artists and writers who help create your favourite heroes and villains. It’s a comic geek’s heaven!
- Sunshine on Leith [29 May – 2 June 2018]
The sensational Scottish musical Sunshine on Leith returns to His Majesty’s Theatre to tell the story of Ally and Davy as they return home to Edinburgh from the army. This feel good soundtrack features music from The Proclaimers including I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) and I’m On My Way. It’s so good you’ll happily walk 500 miles to see it again.
