Let the Scottish break beGIN
29 May 2018
Gin’s a pretty big deal right now and we’re not shying away from getting in on the action on #WoldGinDay this June. This part of Scotland is already known for it’s eight whisky distilleries and of course, for being home of the craft beer giant, BrewDog… but we’re also home to some of the best gin producers in the world!
Here’s just five gin themed reasons to visit Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this year:
1. Raise a glass at our bars
Pay a visit to Scotland’s best cocktail bar, Orchid to sample Aberdeen’s very own Porter’s Gin. Head under the Granite streets to subterranean tavern, Tippling House for a tipple.
2. Tour a gin distillery
See for yourself how our gins are so lovingly crafted when you step inside the doors of some of our gin distilleries. You’ll learn about the unique stories that inspired the creators and uncover the carefully selection ingredients that make each gin differ.
3. Have a gin experience
Tutored tastings at leading bars and gin pairing events at top restaurants – could your trip get any better? You can also attend a mixology event and learn how to make your very own gin cocktails. You’ll quickly be on your way to becoming a connoisseur of North-east Scotland’s gins.
4. Go to a gin themed event
If you’re as big a fan of gin as we are then you’ll want to attend one of our gin themed events running throughout the year in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. That includes gin festivals, tastings and meet the maker events!
5. Combine gin with local produce
We might have mentioned that our local food is equally as impressive as our gin so make sure you pair the two to really taste this place. We’re talking fresh seafood at a seafront restaurant, wild game at traditional Scottish hotel and even a restaurant run by a Masterchef finalist!
