Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire’s distinctive culture is still alive; ingrained in the warp and weave of its people and its traditions – so much so that there’s a Highland Games celebration still taking place in almost every village!
Even the name – Highland Games – brings to mind so many associations for so many people – kilts, ritual, heritage, sports, pipe bands and highland dancing. But there’s no words that can truly replace the power of experiencing our ancient Highland Games tradition for yourself. Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire aren’t shy when it comes to putting on a full programme of summer Highland Games…

This is not an extensive list – there’s plenty more Highland Games going on throughout all of the towns and villages in Aberdeenshire; this is a part of the world where strong communities still come together to celebrate their history and heritage through this long standing tradition. So much so that the Braemar Gathering is attended each year by the Royal Family whilst the Lonach Highland Gathering and Games is frequented by many famous faces!
