It’s now officially summer so we’re rejoicing and looking forward to lots of fun events coming to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire this month. From agricultural shows to highland games, folk festivals to gin festivals, an aqua ceilidh to car shows. Check out some of the fun things you can look forward to this July.

Scottish Traditional Boat Festival (STBF) [30 – 1 July 2018]
The STBF welcomes up to 16,000 people to the village of Portsoy for the celebration of the region’s cultural heritage. Enjoy competitive racing and sailing, fresh cooked food and welcoming locals as the event celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Antiques Roadshow [1 July 2018]
Dust off your family heirlooms and head to Crathes Castle where BBC One’s Antique Roadshow will be filming. Doors open at 9.30am and close at 4.30pm and entry is free. What do you have hiding in your attic? Hopefully no scary ghosts.

Stonehaven Folk Festival [5 – 8 July 2018]
Enjoy concerts, workshops, singalongs, storytelling and ceilidhs at this quirky festival. Why not head along to the festival’s Aqua Ceilidh at Stonehaven Heated Open Air Pool for an aquatic take on this dancing Scottish tradition.

Aberdeen Gin Fest [6 – 7 July 2018]
There’s only two weeks until Aberdeen Gin Fest. Make the most of your chance to try over 30 Scottish gins, local beers and hand-crafted spirits. Raise a glass and dance the night away to great live music.

Highland Games: Braemar Junior Highland Games [14 July 2018], Stonehaven Highland Games [15 July 2018] and Tomintoul Highland Games [21 July 2018]
The Highland Games are an ancient tradition honoured for centuries and attending one will give you a feel for our rich Scottish culture. This month there are three Highland Games events taking place throughout North-east Scotland: Braemar Junior Highland Games, Stonehaven Highland Games and Tomintoul Highland Games.
