The history hunters…

The area has a long-standing and important history which is celebrated in its 300 castles, museums and old towns. Old Aberdeen is the oldest settlement in the city – with its 15th century fortified cathedral and 1495 Kings College (one of the oldest Universities in the UK). Today, the city has been recognised as “one of the most architecturally distinctive cities in Europe”. You might even be able to trace your own roots back to this Scottish settlement!

For the foodies…

Full-flavoured, hearty and comforting, you can spend the whole weekend sampling our finest local delicacies – trust me, I’ve done it! Enjoying a wee dram in front of a blazing fireplace in a traditional pub. Experiencing the craft beer revolution first hand at BrewDog’s innovative brewery. Tasting the place with freshly caught seafood served on a place whilst you enjoy coastal views. Or even trying a fisherman’s rowie or buttery!

For those interested in royalty…

Arguably one of the UK’s most famous castles can be found here. Balmoral Castle is the countryside Scottish residence of the UK Royal Family. And it’s not just this legendary castle that connects Aberdeenshire to the Monarchy. In fact, the whole of Royal Deeside is linked through its distilleries, golf courses, highland games, railways and castles. If royals get to be themselves here… imagine how you will feel.
