2017 is definitely a year to visit Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire if you enjoy the buzz of a sporting event. Don't worry - you don't need to look out those running shoes to enjoy efforts on the track, court, pool or field. We have a number of events for the whole family to watch and enjoy, from netball championships and swimming heats, to beast races and cycle sportives!

Scottish National Age Group Championships 2017

With over 900 competitors expected to take part in events covering all strokes and all distances over five days of competition, the Championships being held at Aberdeen Sports Village, Aberdeen, will certainly be an exciting event and we hope you can join us.

British Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2017

The British Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2017 is coming to Scotland. Enjoy the thrill of a number of competitive heats including 50m sprints to grueling 1500m freestyle races. Make sure to keep your eye on the game during the relays!

Netball Europe 2017

Netball Europe 2017 Open and Under 21 sections will take place at Aberdeen Sports Village from 11th - 14th May. Join us for some exhilarating performance play from U21 Championship teams Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales and 5 nations playing in the Open Challenge section including Bermuda, Gibraltar, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland and Israel.

RunBalmoral

RunBalmoral is in its 20th year! The event attracts around 5000 competitors and a similar number of spectators. Set in the grounds of Balmoral Castle it features a number of events over the weekend. The most popular is the 10K with 2500 runners, and the 5K with 1000 runners. With some excellent junior races where over 1000 children compete in the 1.5K primary and 2.5K secondary schools events.

Rebel Dubbit Dash

Rebel Dubbit Dash at Deeside Activity Park is a non timed 5K mud run and family day out. You can enjoy watching the race (or take part yourself) and sample some of the delicious food and drink on offer. Who could say no to a Cairnton Aberdeen Angus BBQ after a race?!

Dunnecht Dash

The 2k fun race and 5k road race, held in the beautiful grounds of Dunecht House is the perfect early afternoon for children and families to enjoy some fresh air and exercise.

Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run

Starting and finishing on Union Street the 10k will take runners east, past the Town Hall and County House and towards the famous Castle Gate, the route will pass Aberdeen Harbour and Pittodrie Football Stadium. Whether you're new to running, looking for a challenge, or are a club runner aiming for a record PB, there is a distance and wave to suit your ability.

The Prime Four Beast Race

BEAST yourself on an epic 10k obstacle course race over tough Scottish terrain. Run, climb, slide, wade & crawl round 25 mega obstacles; giant water slides; icy loch water; thick mud & swamp crossings. It’s the ultimate team or solo challenge. Test your stamina at Scotland’s ‘beastliest’ obstacle race.

The 100 mile Closed Road Cycle Sportive. Pedal through Moray’s famous Whisky Country before testing your stamina with an alpine climb over one of the highest roads in the UK. Catch your breath at The Lecht Ski Resort before descending into Aberdeenshire’s Royal Deeside.
