Agricultural Events
The stunning landscapes and vistas that you will enjoy during your visit are created and managed by Aberdeenshire’s farmers. Where to better to fully enjoy this landscape by attending on of the great agricultural showcase events the area has to offer. The Turriff Show is the largest two day agricultural event in Scotland and there are many other agricultural shows including the New Deer Show and Echt Show. These events showcase the best in livestock, ringside activities, food & drink, arts & crafts and much more.
The annual Taste of Grampian held at Thainstone Mart near Inverurie celebrity chefs, 180 exhibitors and local producers who invite you to taste and buy the finest smoked salmon, mouth-watering shortbread, delicious ice-cream, sumptuous prime roast beef, creamy fudge, a dram or two of the best Scottish whisky’s from local distilleries and much more.
Stay on a Farm
Now you have sampled the best of our local produce why not ramp up your agricultural experience by staying on a farm? Aberdeenshire offers a great range of self-catering accommodation staying on a farm and even better being right in the middle of things in a glamping Pod. On the north Aberdeenshire coast you can stay in a hobbit, harvest hut or railway carriage near Rosehearty at Down on the Farm and in rural central Aberdeenshire you can stay at the Boutique Farm Bothies near Huntly.
Farm Shops
In Aberdeenshire we are very proud of our local produce and where better to buy it than by visiting a local farm shop. In Deeside you can visit the Finzean Estate offering the very best of Scottish hospitality, fabulous homemade food, interesting retail choice from artisan food to quirky gifts and amazing art work hanging on the walls, outdoor pursuit opportunities & accommodation on the Estate which is home to a farm shop, outdoor pursuits and tourism accommodation. No visit to Deeside would be complete without going to Deeside Activity Park and Farm Shop. The unique thing about the coffee shop is that the beef provided in the shop is Aberdeen Angus, which is bred on Cairnton Farm, owned by the same owners as the park and coffee shop. At Deeside Activity Park you can learn more about the Aberdeen Angus Trail and purchase beef from the shop.
Taste our Best
From the surf to the turf and whisky to craft beer, Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire have long been serving up some of Scotland’s most premium local produce. Look out on our website for businesses who have the ‘Taste our Best’ accreditation.
