A summer city break that looks and feels quite different

If you’re looking to for a city break different than any other then make sure Aberdeen is at the top of your list. 55 flight routes connect the city to the rest of the world, its central train and bus station connect it to the rest of the UK whilst its’ own ferry port means coming from overseas is easy too!

And when you’re here, we’ve got plenty to fill your stay. Early mornings at Aberdeen beach watching the dolphins play alongside the sun rise. Afternoons visiting galleries and museums and a spot of shopping. Late night strolling around the architecturally distinctive city centre.

Aberdeen isn’t just a city by the sea, it’s a city of the sea; where it’s working harbour is home to the oldest business in Britain and its beach is just a stone’s throw from the centre of the city! It’s a great viewing point for paddle boarders and surfers, believe it or not, all year round, and is lined with restaurants and cafes perfect for enjoying a meal with stunning views (and if you’re lucky you might even spot a dolphin).

The city itself is full of character, charm and history. Aberdeen has two old towns; these are real hidden gems. At the end of Aberdeen’s beach is Footdee (pronounced ‘Fittee’ by Aberdonian’s). It’s like stepping back in time and experiencing first-hand the city’s sea faring soul; on the water’s edge you will find a quirky cluster of tiny cottages with flower-filled gardens and eccentric painted outhouses!

Then there’s Old Aberdeen. Have you seen our amazing pictures of King’s College? You will find this here, on cobbled streets, along with the rest of the campus of the 1495 University of Aberdeen. Parks, gardens, museums and even a 15th century fortified Cathedral with a very famous story to tell, are all found here…
