10 #selfies you’ve got to take in #beautifulABDN

I love sharing photos with my social media network back home when I’m visiting a new place! If you’re planning on Instagraming, Snapchatting, tweeting and Facebook-ing when you come to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire make sure you add these 10 locations to your selfie list!

1. Stepping back in time

Visit one of the oldest parts of the city, Old Aberdeen where you will find the 5th oldest University in the UK – get a selfie here! Kings College as a backdrop is pretty amazing.

2. Outside an imposing castle

It’s got to be one of Scotland’s most famous castles so make sure you tick Dunnottar Castle off the selfie list! If you stand on the hill far back you will get the whole ruin in your selfie.

3. With a highland coo (cow)

You can’t not get a photo with one of these beautifully Scottish animals! If you get one, make sure you upload it on a Tuesday and tag #coosday!

4. Scoffing a buttery

One of our ‘must-do’ things for your trip is to try our famous butteries/rowies! Now we want the evidence…

5. Sipping a wee dram

Can you say you’ve really experienced Aberdeenshire without sampling a wee tipple of our finest local scotch? A selfie at The Grill with hundreds of whisky bottles in the background is going to be priceless!

6. With a dolphin in the background

Ok this one is pretty far-fetched but you never know… a challenge is a challenge! If you stand at Torry Battery you have a great viewpoint for any playful dolphins… and it’s sure to get you more than 10 likes… right?

7. On a secluded beach

It doesn’t have to be 30 degrees to count as a great selfie. Dip your toes (if you dare) in the North Sea and get a great selfie amongst our great dunes and wide sandy beaches!

8. Pretending to be Royal

This won’t be hard as Royal Deeside has so many royal connections! Why not get a selfie next to the banks of the River Dee where Charles and Diana were famously photographed on their honeymoon?

9. With a pipe band

This might be one for next year when our Highland Games programme kicks off… but a selfie with a mass pipe band is a proper challenge! Warning – getting too close might hurt your eardrums – bagpipes are very loud.

10. Teeing off from a golf course

If you want my ultimate tip for this one... head to Cruden Bay Golf Club where you might even get a castle in the background too...
