Angela Michael

FESTIVALS & CULTURE DIRECTOR

Angela has a ‘healthy’ obsession with festivals and finds herself in her dream role, working with ten of the region’s top festivals to increase the profile of each event through a collaborative approach, maintain and develop audiences locally, nationally and internationally and as a result increase the artistic profile and visibility of Aberdeen as a more exciting and culturally vibrant place to live and visit.

As an ‘incomer’ to Aberdeen Angela is originally from Derry (UK City of Culture 2013) and has lived in the Silver City for over 13 years, moving from London in 2002.

Since moving to the region Angela has built up extensive PR and marketing experience in both the corporate, public and charitable sector.

With an expertise in festival management, promotion, funding, sponsorship and marketing she has successfully managed the PR, marketing, sponsorship liaison and event planning for events such as Aberdeen Jazz Festival, Big Tent Festival in Fife, Dancelive, AIYF and was a founder of the North-east’s only two day outdoor music festival, Wizard Festival.

With an avid interest in all types of culture and the arts as well as a particular passion for music, she has worked at BBC Radio Scotland on the Tom Morton show and carried out interviews with bands and musicians such as James, Status Quo, Madness and KT Tunstall published in the Press and Journal’s Your Weekend supplement.
