Tour - Old Aberdeen
Aberdeen, Scotland's third largest city, grew out of two distinct communities - New Aberdeen and Old Aberdeen. Monks and scholars, traders and travellers settled round Old Aberdeen in the area where 14th century St Machar's Cathedral still stands and where Kings College, the forerunner to Aberdeen University, was founded by Bishop Elphinstone in 1495. Today, quaint Old Aberdeen, where cobbled roads still run through the heart of the area, is one of Aberdeen's favourite hidden gems.
